“When I was 14 and at a large pool, there was a Scuba class being taught on one end. After the class, they were inviting people to breath off a regulator in no more than 5 feet of water to see what it felt like. I tried it and was instantly hooked ! A few months later I got my first certification. That was almost 40 years ago.”

“When I was in college, I was involved in a photo ID project of live fish and invertebrates for identification sake and got a bit burned out on underwater photography. I avoided it all together until about 2 years ago when I got my first GoPro. I figured i could enjoy my dive and just hit record when I saw something notable. I only really started to get into it seriously as an art form when I started post processing / color grading in Davinci Resolve. I suppose I’m hooked on videography now.”

“My favorite aspect of the ocean is definitely the critters. In short, I have a love for the creatures that I capture on video. The biodiversity of the ocean is absolutely amazing and the behavior of the various species is so much more complex than meets the eye. One could literally spend a lifetime refining what one knows about marine life.”

“Diving is my Zen moment. I try to be that way on the surface as well, but when diving, I’m in the now. No surface challenges enter my mind and the chattering monkey in my head goes quiet. To the extent that I’m able to bring that to the surface more often with time. That is life changing.”

“I love Octopuses and Mantas for sure. But so much more ocean life is a close second. Marine mammals, eels, sharks, turtles, butterflyfish etc. It’s hard to say why they are my favorite, but perhaps it’s just the fact that I can interact with them as a visitor into their world.”
